About the Blog

January 29th, 2009

Merrick Pet Care presented Tug and Michael Blankenship the opportunity to sample its new line of five-star pet food, Merrick Elements. The Elements line of dog food contains three “elements” to help promote healthy eyesight, joints and breath. For anyone who owns a large breed dog–especially a St. Bernard–or any dog for that matter, providing a nutitional diet is an important facet of being a pet owner. Like most large dogs, St. Bernards are prone to eye problems and hip dysplasia, and the constant slobber and jowels do little for fresh breath. As a result, Tug is an ideal candidate to put Merrick Elements to the test. Tug has had his share of medical issues, including stomach bloat, joint soreness, and at times, has breath that could stop a runaway freight train.

Tug’s Tale is the blog of our experience with Merrick Elements. In the spirit of full disclosure, our blog is featured on the Merrick Elements web site. The reviews of Elements are our own–both Tug’s reactions and my observations. Each week we will review a different flavor, provide product information and give updates on Tug’s experience.
